Frequently Asked Questions

What is Counselling or Psychotherapy?
Counselling provides space and time which can be rare. Working within a unique and confidential relationship allows safe exploration of any and all presenting issues. If change is something you seek then, by finding different ways of looking at old patterns and problems, alternative approaches and priorities can be explored.

Why might I benefit?
Modern life is full, with responsibilities, pressures and expectations among many other things. This can leave little time to stop, reflect and understand what is happening and how we feel about it. Counselling and Psychotherapy can provide this space along with the chance to look at the more difficult aspects of our lives.

How does it work?
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at the same time each week. The sessions cost £50 each. A reduced rate is sometimes possible for students of mental health, please enquire.

A free initial assessment session provides an opportunity for us to meet and for you to ask any questions you may have about me or the process.

I work with individuals, both adults and young people and work either face to face, by telephone or online.

The BACP Ethical Framework which can be found on the BACP website gives a way of working which I adhere to. This covers the principles and qualities I deem essential and helps to ensure best practice.

What other local services are available?
